The day will cover the evidence-based RECOVER Certification workshop formats for both BLS and ALS. Participants will have to pass the practical assessments for both BLS and ALS in order to obtain certification. Please see the RECOVER website for full details.
Before the course will need to complete the online RECOVER CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Life Support (ALS) courses and submit your certificate of completion as evidence, 2 weeks before attending the workshop day. The cost (approx. €50 for Nurses and € 100 for Vets) of the online courses will need to be funded from your own CPD budget (discounted rate will be automatically applied when using a work email address) and the specific details for the courses will be sent to all successful delegates when places are confirmed in October.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Rapidly recognize patients with cardiopulmonary arrest
- Properly administer high-quality chest compressions using the most up-to-date approaches in dogs and cats
- Provide mouth-to-snout or intubated ventilation according to current evidence-based guidelines
- Utilize effective communication and team skills that will improve your ability to manage emergent and critically ill patients

- Choose the most useful monitoring devices for patients in cardiopulmonary arrest and interpret data from them
- Rapidly diagnose the arrest ECG rhythm to determine the best ALS therapies for the patient
- Administer the most effective drugs and other adjunctive therapies for patients with cardiopulmonary arrest
