Doktor.se and AniCura to develop healthcare app for pets

Press release

The digital healthcare provider, Doktor.se, and AniCura have entered into an agreement to develop a new healthcare app for pets in Europe. Doktor.se has Sweden’s most popular healthcare app and AniCura is a leading European provider of veterinary care treating more than 2.5 million pets every year.

- We have developed the most popular app for healthcare in Sweden and with AniCura we will launch an app for veterinary care. As a leading player within digital healthcare and with AniCura’s international scale, we will get a European platform and even stronger business model, says Martin Lindman, CEO and co-founder of Doktor.se.

Doktor.se has had the most downloaded app for healthcare in App Store and Google Play since the autumn 2018. The company was founded 2016 and has thus far used its technology on the Swedish market. The development of the veterinary care app is under way and is estimated to launch later this year.

- After thoroughly assessing several potential partners we have decided that Doktor.se has the best technology for digital healthcare and share our vision to shape the future of healthcare. Doktor.se provides care both digitally and physically, which we believe is important also for AniCura, says Sofia Landström, responsible for the new app at AniCura and continues:

- There is a significant demand for digital healthcare among our customers since it increases availability, is cost efficient and can have important preventive advantages.

The agreement will make Doktor.se the exclusive technical provider to AniCura for digital healthcare services. The European market for veterinary care is significant. According to Statista, Europeans have 102 million cats, 84 million dogs, 49 million birds, 29 million small mammals, 17 million aquarium pets and 8 million reptiles in their homes. Altogether this equals 289 million pets which is 28 times the population of Sweden.

- We want to help AniCura to do the same digital journey we have done in Sweden but internationally. We should be proud o the cutting-edge technology within digital healthcare that we have in Sweden. We have become a global pioneers, says Martin Lindman, CEO of Doktor.se
