Press release

Azita Shariati has been appointed new Group CEO of AniCura. She will assume her new position no later than December 1, 2019, replacing Peter Dahlberg who has announced that he will step down after more than seven successful years as CEO.

Azita Shariati joins AniCura from the multinational company Sodexo where she spent the past 21 years in different managerial roles in the service and hospitality industry. Since 2017, she has been President of Sodexo Nordics leading 11,000 employees at more than 1,200 locations and CEO of Sodexo Healthcare Nordics which includes medical equipment and eye clinics. Azita has a strong leadership track record demonstrating consistent ability to deliver results combined with successful efforts to improve diversity and inclusion. She was born in Iran in 1968, moved to Sweden in 1988 and holds a degree in food economics from the University of Gothenburg.

-     It is a great pleasure to welcome Azita Shariati to AniCura. She is an exceptional leader who brings a wealth of experience and drive to AniCura. I am confident that Azita’s passion for growth and for developing strong purpose driven organisations will provide the right leadership to AniCura’s continued international expansion across Europe, says Alejandro Bernal, President Mars Veterinary Health International.

-     I am truly excited to join AniCura and the journey to shape the future of veterinary care in Europe. AniCura is the result of impressive entrepreneurship combined with a commitment to improve quality of care and drive development across the industry that I find highly appealing. As part of the family-owned Mars, I believe AniCura is well positioned to continue to play an important role in shaping the veterinary industry for decades ahead, says Azita Shariati, newly appointed Group CEO of AniCura.

Azita Shariati succeeds Peter Dahlberg who has been Group CEO of AniCura since the company’s inception in 2011 and recently announced his intention to step down.

-     Peter Dahlberg has taken AniCura on a remarkable journey from its first animal hospitals in Stockholm only seven years ago to a leading pan-European veterinary care provider well-known for its prominent position within specialized care, commitment to quality development and strong company culture. I would like to thank Peter for his significant achievements in building AniCura and pioneering the veterinary industry, says Alejandro Bernal.

Azita Shariati assumes her position as Group CEO of AniCura no later than December 1, 2019.
