Ulrika Grönlund, AniCura's Group Medical Quality Manager, has been appointed Associate Professor in infection control by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Clinical Sciences. The appointment is Sweden’s first associate professor in infection control across all disciplines, including both veterinary medicine and human medicine.
Infection control refers to the policies and procedures used to minimise the risk of spreading infections, especially in human hospital environments, animal hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
– Effective infection control procedures are fundamental to high quality patient care and safety. Ulrika is an authority in the field of infection control and we are very pleased that our animal hospitals and clinics can benefit from Ulrika’s knowledge and expertise, says Peter Feledy, Chief Operating Officer at AniCura.
– Working with quality at AniCura is exciting and rewarding. Infection control and antibiotic resistance are increasingly important topics, and there is always room to improve the clinical practice in both these fields. AniCura is a great platform for achieving real and lasting impact in the areas of infection control and antibiotic resistance, but also provides a great opportunity to identify new ways of working, either through conducting clinical research or by just discussing between clinics and countries, says Ulrika Grönlund.
Earlier this month AniCura issued the veterinary industry’s first quality report which describes AniCura's systematic quality initiative QualiCura, whose aim is to increase patient safety and improve the medical outcomes for AniCura's patients.
