This is an online course for veterinarians and nurses wanting more knowledge and understanding of anaesthetic considerations for specific conditions in dogs and cats. Also pre-anaesthetic assessment and pre-medication in these circumstances will be discussed.
Accredited for the Swedish and Norwegian specialist in diseases of dogs and cats programmes, 13 ATF points and under application for EBP accreditation.
The course language is English.

Course Description
This course is theoretical but interactive with simulator work and case discussions. You are expected to participate live during the three course days.
The course covers monitoring devices and processes as these are prerequisites for a safe anaesthesia. Anaesthetic considerations for patients with cardiac and kidney disease, respiratory compromised patients as well as anaesthesia for laparoscopy and caesarean sections among other conditions will be covered.
Learning Objectives
After this course, the course participants will be able to:
- assess and stabilise the critical patient for anaesthesia
- understand effects and side effects of anaesthetic drugs
- use advanced monitoring
- manage anaesthesia in dogs and cats with serious diseases
- manage anaesthesia in special critical procedures
